Ear Candling treatment

Ear Candling is thousands of years old and although the process had almost been completely lost to common knowledge for many years, it has come into practice again and is being used once again for its’ gentle and natural cleaning of the ears and eyes, sinus relief, vertigo, better lymphatic and blood circulation, treating earaches due to problems with air pressure, dental issues, tonsils, poor diet, insufficient blood oxygenation, or cold or humid climates. It is a very relaxing therapy and also addresses the nasal passages, assists with ear wax removal, headaches, asthma, tinnitus, allergies, shampoo and antibiotic residue.  It enhances the senses of hearing, sight, taste, smell, allows for clearer and more focused thinking and activates the acupressure points.

It is a simple but effective home remedy involving the use of a hollow candle/cone and is made of unbleached cotton coated in pure beeswax.  The small end of the candle/cone is gently placed in the opening of the person’s ear canal and the large end is lit.  The burning of the candle creates a vacuum within the ear and will draw out excess wax, fungus, bacteria, yeast, Candida, ear mites, worms or parasites into the hollow core of the candle/cone.  There is absolutely no discomfort to the person receiving ear candling (or coning as it is also often called).  Most people find this process very relaxing and soothing and often drift off to sleep.

The top of the candle is the only area that is lit to draw out the wax and residue from inside the ear. There is no candle flame or hot wax being placed or dripped into your ear and only wax and residue is being extracted without any pain or discomfort at all.

Wax build-up can be caused by excess accumulation, bone deformation, working in environments having a lot of dust, paint fumes, hair spray, smoke, pollution, excess noise or heat, and swimming in polluted water. Wax build-up can create hearing loss, ringing, buzzing or clicking noises, tinnitus, dizziness, headaches, itchy or irritated ears.

Ear Candling can benefit almost everyone, from infants to adults.  It is recommended to wait until a child is one year old before candling.  Musicians can benefit – especially singers and horn blowers – who often have a lot more wax build-up than other people. People who wear hearing aids can benefit as well as those who have had previous ear injuries as they tend to have a greater build-up of wax and fungus. Ear Candling is especially helpful after having had a severe cold, pneumonia, bronchitis or tonsillitis.

Ear Candling should not be done to people who have punctured ear drums until they are healed over, artificial ear drums, or those with open sores within the ears but can be done successfully for those with ear tubes or ear infections. Other situations to avoid Ear Candling would include ear inflammation, recent ENT surgery, recent tooth removal or surgery, if you are traveling by air or scuba diving within the next 24 hours.

Ear Candling Courses are also offered where the student learns the practice of Ear Candling by giving a treatment as well as receiving one, receiving handouts and notes as well as a certificate upon completion of the course.

Over the years, I have been guided to learn a few other healing techniques that I felt would enhance my Reiki practice, one which is noted & described above, others which are under “Other Services”, with Reiki still being my mainstay and passion.
